‘Dynasty’: Lead Cast Member
Not Returning For Season 2
There will be a different dynamic on the CW’s Dynasty next season. One of the stars of the reboot, Nathalie Kelley, who plays Cristal, has confirmed in an E! interview that she will not be returning for Season 2.
The development is not entirely shocking — Cristal, Alexis or Michael’s fates were left up in the air in the Season 1 finale cliffhanger, which ended with the three still trapped in a fire after Cristal also had been shot.

Still, Kelley’s exit changes the original setup of the reboot, in which the story of the feud between the Carringtons and the Colbys was to be told primarily through the perspectives of two women at odds: Fallon Carrington (Elizabeth Gillies), daughter of billionaire Blake Carrington (Grant Show), and her soon-to-be stepmother, Cristal (Kelley), a Hispanic woman marrying into this WASP family and America’s most powerful class.
Cristal was a version of the Krystle Jennings character in the original series, played by Linda Evans, which was considered a female lead. It also was the case on the CW’s Dynasty, whose Season 1 key art featured Gillies, Kelley and Show.
The dynamic on the show already changed with the introduction of Nicollette Sheridan as Alexis Carrington late in Season 1.
The decision to make the stepmom Hispanic was an effort to bring the 1980s soap to the 21st century and better reflect the diversity of America today as well as add a race/class dimension to the family conflicts, though fan reaction to the character has been somewhat mixed.
Asked about Cristal fate, Kelley, a Peruvian-born Australian actress, said, “Is it a coma? Is it death? … I actually don’t know. But I know that I’m not going to Atlanta in July, that I’m staying [in LA]…. I’ve got my life back.”![]()

‘Dynasty’ Surprise: Ana Brenda Contreras Joins the CW Series As “Real Cristal”
Dynasty fans were shocked when earlier this summer one of the stars of the reboot, Nathalie Kelley, who plays Cristal, announced that she will not be returning for Season 2. It turns out that he exit was part of a soapy plot twist. At the CW executive session, it was announced that telenovela Ana BrendaContreras is joining the show in Season 2 as a new character, revealed to be the real Cristal Flores.
Cristal, Alexis or Michael’s fates were left up in the air in the Season 1 finale cliffhanger, which ended with the three still trapped in a fire after Cristal also had been shot.
“We were a little surprised she spoiled the surprise,” the CW president Mark Pedowitz said of Kelley’s comments, noting that “we have plans for other characters too. (Showrunner) Sallie (Patrick) has fun twist and turns in store.”
Asked for the reason for the switch Pedowitz said, “it’s a wild soap, these are things you do on a soap.” He said the the plan to go into that direction with the character started in midseason.
I hear the decision started as a recasting, with the producers using the soap form as a creative way to do it.
Contreras’ casting restores the original setup of the reboot, in which the story of the feud between the Carringtons and the Colbys was to be told primarily through the perspectives of two women at odds: Fallon Carrington (Elizabeth Gillies), daughter of billionaire Blake Carrington (Grant Show), and her soon-to-be stepmother, Cristal (Kelley), a Hispanic woman marrying into this WASP family and America’s most powerful class.
Cristal was a version of the Krystle Jennings character in the original series, played by Linda Evans, which was considered a female lead. It also was the case on the CW’s Dynasty, whose Season 1 key art featured Gillies, Kelley and Show.
The dynamic on the show changed in the second half of Season 1 with the introduction of Nicollette Sheridan as Alexis Carrington late in Season 1.
“Nicollette has been a great addition,” Pedowitz said. “She is a disrupting force, she is that diva.”
The decision to make the stepmom Hispanic was an effort to bring the 1980s soap to the 21st century and better reflect the diversity of America today as well as add a race/class dimension to the family conflicts, though fan reaction to the character has been somewhat mixed.

Dynasty season 2: Release date, cast, spoilers and everything you need to know!
The CW's reboot of Dynasty hasn't exactly been a huge ratings hit yet in the US, but thanks to its Netflix deal internationally, it was recomissioned for a second season in April as part of a mass renewal for the network. "As The CW expands to a six-night, Sunday-through-Friday schedule next season, we are proud to have such a deep bench of great returning series for 2018-19. By picking these ten series up for next season, we have a terrific selection of programming to choose from when we set our fall schedule in May, with more still to come," explained The CW's president Mark Pedowitz. Following a huge cliffhanger to season one, what can we expect from Dynasty season two?
The CW has confirmed that season two will premiere on Friday,October 12 in the US. Netflix airs the show in the UK and will likely continue to add new episodes the day after the US airing, so UK fans should be able to watch the season two premiere on Saturday, October 13. The reboot saw a pleasingly dramatic raft of changes from the original characters with Sammy Jo changing from a woman to a gay man and the Colby family reborn entirely as African-American and, fortunately, most of them survived season one.
Dynasty season 2 cast: Who's coming back?
So we can expect season two to feature the likes of Elizabeth Gillies as Fallon Carrington, Rafael de la Fuente as Sam Jones, James Mackay as Steven Carrington and Brianna Brown as Claudia Blaisdel who, earlier in season one, admitted to causing the explosion that killed her husband Matthew (Nick Wechsler). However, there were some character fates left up in the air in the dramatic season one finale as Cristal Flores Carrington (Nathalie Kelley) was shot in the stomach by Claudia (who thought she was shooting her dead husband, naturally), leaving her trapped in a house that had just been set on fire on Steven's wedding day.
"I know that I end up with a gunshot wound and in a fire at the end of season one, and I know that I won't be filming season two. Is it a coma? Is it death? I actually don't know. But I know that I'm not going to Atlanta [where Dynasty films] in July, that I'm staying [in Los Angeles]... I've got my life back."
Or maybe Kelley is just playing us all to keep everything spoiler-free.
And if you needed a bit more mystery, Ana Brenda Contreras will be playing the "real" Cristal in season two, so it seems it's not technically a recast. And it seems that Cristal probably won't be making it out of that house alive. "I won't be returning... I haven't read anything for season two," Kelley revealed in June.
"It's a soap. It's a wild soap. It's like a telenovela. You do things that make sense for the moment based on where the storyline's going. That's really all it's about," explained The CW president Mark Pedowitz, who added that he was a "little surprised" Kelley revealed her exit.
Michael Culhane (Robert Christopher Riley) and Alexis Carrington (Nicollette Sheridan) were also trapped in the fire, while Steven was nowhere to be found. However, we have a feeling that both Michael and Steven will have survived, while Sheridan has been promoted to a series regular for season two, so she's going nowhere either. And if you need definite proof that Alexis survives, even the costume designer Meredith Markworth-Pollack has confirmed it. "I think there's a lot of room now that Nicollette is becoming a series regular and will be sticking around to really play with her [costumes] and push the envelope even more," she told Variety. ![Image result for Dynasty reboot 2nd Season]()
Even though the season premiere is only three months away, we don't know all that much about season two, other than the fact the fiery cliffhanger will have to be resolved. If Cristal really is dead though, it changes up the dynamic of the reboot which mainly revolved around the feud between Fallon Carrington and her stepmother Cristal.
Dynasty being Dynasty though, this doesn't mean that Cristal is dead. She might be stuck in a coma for all of season two, before making a major return in season three, or she'll undergo extensive plastic surgery and be played by someone else. And maybe that version will come back and take on the "real" Cristal.![]()
After all, she's the reboot's version of Krystle Jennings (Linda Evans) who was a lead character in the original show.
There's also the small matter from the season finale where Steven's former lover Melissa Daniels (Kelly Rutherford) told him she was pregnant, just minutes before he was due to marry Sam. Awkward.
But it's not just fans who are in the dark over season two, the cast are as well. "I don't know what's going to happen, it stresses me out, they don't tell us anything," Gillies told TVLine, adding that after Fallon took on Alexis in season one, she'd like to see her spar with her father Blake Carrington (Grant Show) in season two. Dynasty season 2 trailer: When is it arriving? We got our first look at the reboot in May 2017, five months before it premiered, but we're still waiting for any new footage from season two. For now, we'll have to make do with this snazzy CW promo of all their upcoming shows.Dynasty airs on The CW in the US and Netflix in the UK.![Related image]()

Why The CW’s ‘Dynasty’ Is My New Guilty Pleasure
As an avid soap-opera fan, I was thrilled when The CW announced they were going to reboot the 1980s hit soap-opera. Since Dynasty premiered on October 11th 2017, I’ve been glued to my TV screen every Wednesday night to find out what the Carrington clan is up to. Even though this reboot is different from the original version in many ways, it still has the perfect mix of love triangles, drama, and iconic one-liners that hook soap junkies like myself. This reboot, which is created and executive produced by Gossip Girl creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, takes you into the tumultuous lives of the rich and powerful where nothing is as perfect as it seems. The show centers on the Carringtons, one of the wealthiest families in the United States and owners of Carrington Atlantic, a power utility company based in Atlanta.![Image result for The CW’s ‘Dynasty’]()
In the first few episodes, it focuses on the feud between Fallon Carrington, daughter of Blake Carrington, and her new step-mother, Cristal. But as the story progresses, new revelations come to light. As if the drama between these two iconic characters wasn’t enough as they battle over who’s going to be the next COO of the company, there are murder mysteries involved and Cristal’s shady past is starting to catch up to her, which threatens to overshadow her seemingly perfect new life as part of the Carrington dynasty. Also, each episode ends with a cliffhanger that forces you to stay tuned and find out what happens next in the lives of the top 1%.![Image result for The CW’s ‘Dynasty’]()
Elizabeth Gillies, best known for her role on Nickelodeon’s Victorious, blesses the audience with her performance as the sassy, elegant, strong, independent, powerful, and sometimes spoiled Fallon Carrington. Fallon manages to deliver hilarious one-liners, while working to build her own company and show everybody that, as she constantly reminds her father Blake, women can indeed be anything they want and have it all. One of the main themes in the series is the importance of family and how they’ll do everything to protect each other no matter at what cost, as it is shown with Grant Show’s performance as the powerful and ruthless Blake Carrington. Blake will go to great lengths to protect his family from what he perceives might threaten his legacy or his marriage to Cristal.
However, behind his tough exterior, there’s a soft, loving husband and father who would do whatever it takes for his loved ones.It was recently revealed that Nicollette Sheridan, best known for her roles as Edie Britt on Desperate Housewives and Paige Matheson on Knots Landing, will be joining the series as the iconic Alexis Carrington, Blake Carrington’s scheming and manipulative first wife, originally played by Joan Collins. Alexis, as reported byVariety, “will return unexpectedly to their world, challenging Blake’s marriage to Cristal, seeking to reunite with her children, and fighting to claim what is hers.” As someone who has yearned for Sheridan’s return to the small screen since her departure from Desperate Housewives, I can’t wait ‘till she makes her debut on Dynasty.

Will FALCON CREST Be The Next Classic Soap Opera To Be Revived?
With the success of TNT’s Dallas reboot ended after the death of Larry Hagman who played the best villain in television history, J.R. Ewing and now Dynasty reboot now comes word out of TV Guide that the uber-popular drama in the vineyards of Northern California, Falcon Crest may live to see another day! According to TVG and chats with former series star William Moses, and the beloved Susan Sullivan, several of the cast has been contacted to see if there is interestto revive the series that aired on CBS primetime from 1981-1990!William Moses related, “There’s not much I can say, for reasons that go beyond myself. Warner Bros. owns the rights and so it’s a discussion between them and the writers. There is a pitch and an idea germinating that has some traction. The producers contacted me to ask if I’d be interested, and I said yes. Where it goes on the producing side, I don’t know.” Susan Sullivan, who played Moses’ TV mother, Maggie, was killed off the series, her involvement would only be as ghost of sorts in the mind of surviving characters. In story, the revival is said to focus on Moses’ Cole Gioberti and David Selby’s Richard Channing, son of the matriarch Angela (the late Jane Wyman). “David and I speak periodically and are old friends and it would be fascinating for me to work with him again,” says Moses, whose character exited the series after six seasons. “Life was too small for Cole in the vineyards, so he went to Australia to form a new life. Because the character was left open-ended, I would be curious to see what that boy became as a man. I can see him coming back to the valley with a chip on his shoulder.”

He’s played a young man growing up in a Mafioso family, a well-respected doctor, and a brother with a questionable past and future during his daytime career, but now Jordi Vilasuso takes on a mysterious new role on the top-rated The Young and the Restless, who we only know thus far by the name of “Rey”.When Vilasuso debuts on CBS daytime drama series, viewers will start to see just how his new character unveils itself, while we get to see one of our favorites back in action. From his roles on Guiding Light, All My Children, Days of our Lives and his primetime and movie roles, Jordi brings his unique charm, acting chops, and sex-appeal to every role he plays.Michael Fairman TV chatted it up with Jordi for this tease of what’s to come when he hits Genoa City, what it has been like working with his new co-stars, nabbing this sought-after role, and reflecting back on the journey that got him here. Check out what he shared below. When the news broke that you were coming to Y&R, fans of the genre were really excited. I thought it was a great testament to you.
JORDI: It’s great. I mean, the way that the show has announced me and has been pushing me… from the promo that was just released this week, to my discussions with Mal Young ((EP and head writer, Y&R). Everybody has just been asking me if I’m good, and the network is really responding to my work. Because, you never know, right? You put it out there, but when you get that feedback, it’s like, “Okay. I’m doing the right thing here.” There’s been a lot of reassurance, which is always great for people to get in a workplace.
Do you feel pressure now to deliver to Mal and to the audience?
JORDI: Of course. I always do. What do they say? Innocence is bliss? Naiveté is bliss? I didn’t know what the hell I was doing when I first walked on to Guiding Light! It’s such a great place to be in as a young kid. I was just like, “I’m an actor. I’m going to create a character…”
And you won an Emmy!
JORDI: And I won an Emmy … and then it’s “I’m going to go be a star, and I’m going to be in a pilot.” I signed with a huge agency, and it was fantastic, and then reality sets in. You get a couple of notches on your belt, and you get kicked in the ass a bit. You learn, and then you crawl out of there, and you gain a lot of character doing that. Really, in the last couple of years I’ve seen there are reasons for all of this stuff. The lens that I’m looking through now is that of a father. I just want to give them tools that can help them deal with life. If they want to become actors, awesome. Go for it. I will support them. Whatever it is they want to do, there are going to be ups and downs, and that’s all part of the journey. For me, I think God has been molding me into the kind of man that I’ve always aspired to be. .
From the Y&R promo this week, it looks like Rey is looking into what happened to J.T. (Thad Luckinbill)?
JORDI: Yes. That has been revealed in the promo. Rey is getting to know the heavyweights in town, and asking a lot of questions.
Speaking of heavyweights, what was it like working with Eric Braeden (Victor, Y&R) for the first time?
JORDI: It was cool. There was a little bit of that being in “awe” of him. I never worked with him, but I always saw him on the cover of magazines. I heard he’s very warm and open with other actors, which I got. Playing with him on set, he kind of goes off the page a bit, which is fun. After talking to him for about a minute, I felt like, “Okay, I get who this guy is.” He’s very professional.
Will your new character be connected to anyone in Genoa City?
JORDI: You never know. It’s a soap!
I would assume if you’re on the number one soap, Rey might have a lover interest. Who would you like to be in a romantic story with, if they should write it?
JORDI: All of the women! (Laughs) All of them have so much to offer from Tracy E. Bregman (Lauren), to Sharon Case (Sharon), to Melissa Ordway (Abby). I know I may be a little bit cryptic, but I have to say, everybody has been extremely lovely to work with.
What can you say about the character in a broad stroke?
JORDI: I think Rey knows what he wants. He is very serious about his work, and he has a lot of ways of working through different situations. Whether it’s a smile or knowing something about you that you may have not known… he may bring you into his orbit in that way.
He’s a mind reader!? (Laughs)
JORDI: He can really read people, I think! He’s very adaptable. He can be put in any situation and have a conversation with anyone. From Victor Newman, to Sharon, to Michael… he can talk to whoever is thought of as having the most status. He has that knack.
Is Rey street smart, or intelligent smart?
JORDI: I would say both. I think Rey grew up very quickly, and I think a lot of that is street smart. I wouldn’t say he is an intellectual philosopher. I would say he leans more towards street smart for sure.
Were you informed on what the long term trajectory of your storyline would be on Y&R? Other actors on the show have talked about how Mal Young tells them where the character is going, so it better prepares them when they are doing their scenes.
JORDI: Yes. I found out on a Tuesday that I got the job, and I was asked to come in on Wednesday to wardrobe, and start work on Thursday, and I did four shows that week. I sat down with Mal for an hour. I had only met him at the screentest and there were a lot of heavyweights there up for this part. He told me about his history, where Rey came from. He showed me what he was doing on the show, how he was trying to change things, and some really exciting things that he was doing. Mal was an open book, and then he did break down what he saw as the next couple of months for my character would be, which I fell in love with. I was like, “Yes! This is so cool. This is a meaty story. This has roots in a lot of things that I can pull from, that I am passionate about, and that are meaningful I felt in a sense, that it was collaborative. Even though he is steering the ship, he was interested in what I had to say as well and very open to questions.
How does Rey stack up against your other daytime characters: GL’s Tony Santos, DAYS Dario, and AMC’s Griffin?
JORDI: Man, it’s so funny, because somebody actually had sent me some clips of Tony the other day, and I was like, “Oh my God, that was crazy long ago! Look at the clothes! It was so mafioso,” but it was so cool and so fun. There only will ever be one Tony Santos. Then you go to Griffin Castillo who was a doctor and just starting to open up to Kendall (Alicia Minshew) and get that whole romance kicking on All My Children. And as for DAYS Dario… God bless Dario … that poor guy. What can I tell you about Dario? He just couldn’t seem to make it work in Salem. He couldn’t find his way, so he said, “You know what? I’m going to run away!” So, he just ran away, and who knows maybe he’s in Mexico running from the law, where I guess he resides now.
You were recently at the All My Children and One Life to Live reunion event. What did the fans say when you got to inform them that you were coming on to The Young and the Restless?
JORDI: They were so happy for me. There was a lot of joy and a lot of happiness. That was the one thing that I got from it. I think they get what the business that we are in, which I really appreciate. It’s such a hustle. You wait for that other gig to come down, and when you get it, it’s a great moment to share. They get it. A lot of that empathy was shared from the fans, and I really, really appreciated that.
Your former AMC co-star Rebecca Budig (Ex-Greenlee) was there, too. How was it seeing her again?
JORDI: I did see her, but just for a second! I think she was so caught up with seeing everyone. She’s beautiful! She hasn’t aged.
When do you think viewers will know what Rey is up to in Genoa City?
JORDI: Sooner rather than later. We have very good pacing for his entry on to the canvas.
We are wondering if Rey might be an adversary to Nick. Did you know Joshua Morrow (Nick Newman) before you came to Y&R?
JORDI: I wonder of Rey and Nick will be nemeses too! But no, I didn’t know Joshua. He’s such a dude’s dude. From the get go, he said, “Do not look at me when you’re on set, and are you ready for my breakfast order?” (Laughs) I kind of bowed down and said, “You know, you’ve been on this show for twenty years. Are you a vegetarian, or can I throw some ham in your omelet?” (Laughs)

DYNASTY Season Finale: Burning Down The House!
Any soap opera lover should have been drooling over the season finale of CW’s Dynasty. Filled with every signature staple of the genre, and delivered in delicious fashion, the episode left us hungry for what’s in store for when the series returns for its second season. The season finale was filled with multiple takeovers of Carrington Atlantic, one coup led by Fallon (Elizabeth Gilles) and another by their newest relative, Jeff Colby (Sam Adegoke) and yet there was another one going on with Alexis (Nicollette Sheridan) using Hank (Brent Antonello) to play the long lost son, while he voted later against Blake (Grant Show), Steven and Fallon. You need a scorecard to follow this, yet the double-cross of a double-cross was fun to watch. The centerpiece of the episode was Steven (James Mackay) and Sammy Jo’s (Rafael de la Fuente) wedding filled with unexpected guests and shockers, chief among them a visit by soap vet Kelly Rutherford, who plays Melissa Daniels. As his wedding is about to start, Melissa shows up to tell Steven that she is pregnant with his child.Elsewhere, when Cristal (Nathalie Kelly) who has already had it with Blake and feels trapped in a marriage to him, or is she really feeling that or enjoying the cat and mouse power game, figures out that Alexis has been sleeping with Hank, angling this whole takeover from her angle. When she confronts Alexis, finally the long-awaited mega catfight on steroids occurs (watch it after the jump) and the two women battle it out, until Alexis locks up Cristal. When Anders (Alan Dale) finds her there and goes back to get the key, none other than unstable Claudia Blaisdel (Brianna Brown) arrives toting a gun. As she is about to have her long-awaited showdown with her nemesis the image of her former husband the late Matthew Blaisdel (Nick Wechsler) keeps coming up. She sees him in her mind, but she actually shoots Cristal and leaves her there to die.Anders hears a voice calling to him in the hallway, and it’s none other than another unstable woman, his daughter, Kirby, who Sammy Jo invited to the wedding. Next thing you know, when everyone has a showdown over the dynasty, it is Fallon, Blake, Steven, Sammy Jo and Alexis who are all together when someone from the outside of the hallway starts a fire and lock them in.As the fire burns down the Carrington estate, characters lives are in jeopardy and one by one as they are rescued, or get to the outside. It is none other than Steven who is left inside, as well as a shot Cristal. Meanwhile, Hank ends up with Claudia, as he tries to steal her car, only to have her get the car started. Will these two make a getaway … or hatch another plan on the Carringtons? We won’t know till next month, October 12th!

CBS’s The Young and the Restless has stirred up a hornet’s nest of fan fury with the firing of Doug Davidson (Paul Williams) on Monday, and most of the fans’ ire is being directed at executive producer/writer, and Daytime Emmy Award winner, Mal Young.Young is under fire from within the ranks as well, with legendary actor and Y&R figurehead Eric Braden who plays the Villian Victor Newman retweeting fans' angry comments about Davidson’s firing.
So who is the man at the center of one of Y&R’s most virulent firestorms?Prior to The Young and the Restless, Young had an illustrious career producing British television shows including Doctor Who and the long-running soap opera EastEnders. He is married to singer Mari Wilson. The 61-year-old Liverpool native took the helm at The Young and the Restless at the start of 2016 and controversy has been his sidekick from the start. After his hiring, then-executive producer Jill Farren Phelps was fired in June 2016. Young immediately took over, with his first episode as executive producer airing in mid-July.At the end of July, it was announced that Y&R writers Kay Alden and Sally Sussman Morina were leaving, and Mal Young was immediately installed as the new head writer. Most recently, fans were disenchanted with the departure of longtime stars Mishael Morgan (Hilary) and the Emmy award winning actress, Eileen Davidson (Ashley), but this week’s announcement regarding the firing of Davidson was the final straw.Seething fans immediately posted online petitions calling for Young’s ousting. Fanning the flames of fan discontent is his decision to bring in a new core family, the Latin Rosales’, to the canvas, seemingly to replace veteran actors who are either leaving or being given diminished airtime. The Young and the Restless airs weekdays during the day on CBS and in the evening on PopTV.

Fans don’t have to worry that The Young and the Restless will be cancelled this time around. The soap was renewed for three more seasons, through 2020. But, how will season 45 of the soap perform in the ratings? Will the CBS execs regret this big renewal? Stay tuned.Premiering on CBS on March 26th 1973, The Young and the Restless follows the romances, hopes and fears of the residents of Midwestern metropolis Genoa City. The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival.

This reboot isn't nearly as fun as the original because it's trying way too hard in every way. The first shot of the series is of the Trump family. Everyone is overacting, but not in the silly way that made the '80s "Dynasty" so enjoyable. The dialogue tries so hard to be clever that it's condescending. The pilot is filled with exposition — the main character, in voiceover, explains what a dynasty is, as if some people would be too dumb or poor to know. And the show desperately tries to fit in a feminist angle, despite the fact that the plot clearly relies on pitting two women against each other.

Despite Y&R head writer Mal Young's statement in a recent interview, announcing that Eileen Davidson would be returning as Ashley in the future for a big story, the actress took to Twitter to clarify and stated, "Hey guys thanks for your support but I left y and r last week. I'm not taking a 'break.' I did say I would be open to coming back for a party or something possibly down the line. Just want to clarify!!! Enjoy my last several shows! The story is fantastic!" Davidson's last episode will air October 29.
On September 28 we learned that we may not have seen the last of Eileen Davidson as Ashley Abbott. In a recent interview with Soap Opera Digest, Headwriter Mal Young teased that during the last few episodes that Ashley’s featured, there will be a big treat for fans as a way to pay homage to the character. He also revealed that Davidson is simply taking a “timeout” from Y&R to pursue other projects, but that Ashley’s still going to be a huge part of the show. In fact, they have a big story planned for her in the future. On September 24 we reported that Eileen Davidson shared a clip from the Y&R set on her last day on the show, Friday September 21. Soaps.com noted that Davidson's video was taken before taping her last scene with the Abbott family, which is not her last scene on the show. Davidson said, "Last day! Love them all so much!! @bethmaitlanddqb @myjasonthompson @mel_ordway #peterbergman @youngandrestlesscbs"On September 18, Eileen Davidson posted a video on Instagram as she walked outside the CBS studios and stated, "Saddest countdown... 😔 #youngandrestless #4moredays." If she has four more days of taping at Y&R, that would keep her character Ashley on screen until around the middle of October. On June 27, we reported that Eileen Davidson confirmed her Y&R departure and will leave the CBS daytime drama in September. The actress stated on Twitter, "Yes I am leaving my second home @YandR_CBS in September. I’ve been so blessed to be able to play Ashley Abbott and work with the amazing people on the show and have nothing but gratitude and love for all!!! Time for a little more control over my day to day!" Soaps.com wishes the actress all the best.Earlier we reported, on the heels of Mishael Morgan leaving Y&R as Hilary after not being offered a raise, comes the news that Eileen Davidson has elected to depart the soap opera as well. Daytime Confidential claims the actress decided to leave The Young and the Restless to spend more time with her family, and the unnamed source behind the news stated, “Eileen is a big family person, but Sony's 'no raises' policy makes it easier for actors to walk away these days.” In an interesting twist, which means she isn't switching soaps, Davidson’s other daytime role was recast as Stacy Haiduk takes over as Days’ Kristen DiMera. In July of last year, Davidson left The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills prior to its eighth season, and explained, “After a lot of careful thought, I've decided because of my crazy schedules at The Young and the Restless, as well as Days of our Lives, it's best for me and my family if I step away from being a Housewife for now. But you never know, I might be popping in from time to time just to see what the ladies are up to!”![http://cimg.tvgcdn.net/i/r/2014/07/25/50f4738a-3efd-45fd-9ebc-e8cd484cd541/thumbnail/660x960/ff7e5dc11b0498137e2d826b2c1f7ea6/140724mag-eileen-davidson1.jpg]()
Davidson was the original actress to play the role of Y&R’s Ashley Abbott in 1982, but quit in 1988. She went on to appear as Kelly Capwell on Santa Barbara and Kristen Blake (along with four other characters, including Susan Banks) on Days of our Lives, before returning to play Abbott again in 1999. After eight years, she was let go from the role due to lack of storyline in 2006, but was seen onscreen until January of 2007. By March, she was signed and appearing as Ashley Abbott on sister soap, The Bold and the Beautiful, where she stayed for a year before returning to Y&R once again. In 2012, Davidson moved back to Days, however by 2014 she was able to secure a contract with Y&R allowing her to do both soaps, and though she stayed on the CBS soap until now, she appeared on Days in both 2015 and 2017.Stay tuned for updates on Eileen Davidson’s last Y&R airdate.

When we first heard that the CW was rebooting the campy ’80s-era prime time soap opera Dynasty, we wondered whether it would feature all the obscene wealthy, backstabbing and over-the-top catfights that made the original so deliciously terrible. But now that we’ve seen the reboot’s trailer, we no longer have to wonder because it does feature all that and some pandering man-on-man action to boot.![]()
The original series followed the drama surrounding the wealthy Carrington family of Denver as the family patriarch, Blake, decides to marry his secretary, Krystle. Though the show reveled Krystle’s battles with Blake’s first wife, Alexis, its entire first season showed Krystle sparring with Blake’s daughter, Fallon, and allying with Blake’s bisexual son Steven.
The reboot seems to follow this same trajectory; the only difference is that Fallon seems to have a thing for black guys (fetishizing?) and Steven’s sexual interest falls on Krystle’s nephew, Sammy Jo, a role that used to be played by Heather Locklear. The new gender-swapped Sammy Jo is played by Rafael de La Fuente, the Latino actor who played Jamal’s gay boyfriend in Empire).
In the original series, Steven’s male lover died near the end of season one. Considering that Locklear’s Sammy Jo stayed on the show for several years, it seems like the gay Sammy Jo character in the reboot may stick around a bit longer than he did in the original.
It’s also interesting to not that the reboot is being done by executive producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, the creators of the CW’s popular Gossip Girl series. Accordingly, the new Dynasty seems geared towards younger female viewers with a protagonist who looks like she’s in her early 20s.
The reboot has also brought along Esther and Richard Shapiro, the pair who helped created the original Dynasty, but it’ll be interesting to see whether modern audiences really care for the catfights and trashy weddings of ultra-rich socialites.![dynasty reboot trailer tv reboots]()
